Gifts for runners by runners; Brainsport’s 2023 holiday gift guide

It takes a runner to know a runner — that’s why Brainsport staff are highly sought-after resources when it comes to finding holiday gifts for the runners in your life, regardless of your budget.

This week, many share some of their favourite items available in store and online.

Thank you for supporting Brainsport!

Swany hand and toe warmers

Cost: $2 each

If you have perpetually cold hands and feet, you need these in your arsenal. These air-activated warming packs can slide inside your gloves or boots to provide heat for up to eight hours (six for the toe warmers). A great stocking stuffer. Fionnuala

Socks

Cost: $10-60

You can never have too many socks, especially warm ones. These make great stocking stuffers. Brainsport carries socks in a wide array of brands, styles, thicknesses and colours. Dominque

Buffs

Cost: $15-50

Buffs are multifunctional, tubular neckwear that provide full-face protection on the coldest runs. These are unisex clothing items that come in one size fits all. This year we have the super soft Merino Fleece buffs, which are cozy warm. If you are an outdoor enthusiast, you’re going to want one or two of these. They’re great stocking stuffers. Brandi

IceSpikes

Cost: $40

Turn your favourite rubber-soled boots or shoes into slip-free winter footwear with IceSpikes. The IceSpike kit comes with 32 spikes and an installation tool. You can remove the spikes at the end of winter without damaging your footwear. — Brainsport staff

Goodr sunglasses

Cost: $40-50

These athletic sunglasses are a customer favourite: stylish, polarized and they don’t slip. Plus they’re a reasonable price. Available in a number of colours and styles. — Brainsport staff

Headlamps

Cost: $50-70

Perfect for those who exercise in the early mornings or evenings. Also great for ultra runners. The styles we carry are lightweight and don’t leave a mark on your head. Brainsport staff

Running tights (shop men’s or women’s)

Cost: $50-175

Bundle up with a pair of good-quality running tights. The Brooks Plaid Run Merry tights for women (left) are a great festive option while the Brooks Run Visible Thermal tights are super for staying safe on dark winter days. Brainsport staff

Running jackets (shop men’s or women’s)

Cost: $65-270

When the weather gets cold, having a good winter running jacket is a must. On the coldest days, you’ll need more than just a windbreaker. Pictured above are the Brooks Shield Hybrid Jacket (left) and Craft ADV Pursuit Thermal Jacket. Ali

OOFOS shoes

Cost: $80-110

These recovery shoes come in a flip flop (sandal) or slide variations and offer cushion while cradling the arch. They’re perfect for the beach or indoors when walking or standing on a hard floor. Harvey

Shokz OpenRun headphones

Cost: $170-230

These headphones are lightweight, comfortable and fit over your ears, not in them. We love that they allow you to hear your audio as well as what’s going on around you. These come in different styles, colours and fits. Brainsport staff
